About the Carpathian Mountains in the World
The Carpathian Mountains are located in Europe running Slovakia, Czeck, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, and Romania. The Carpathians form an arc which goes from the West down to the South. They are 1500 km long, 100-420 km wide, and 1000 m high at average.
The highest point of the Carpathians is Mountain Gerlachovsky Stit, Slovakia. The flora is mainly woody. The slopes are covered with the oak and beech. On the top, there are alpine meadows which are called in Ukraine "polonyna", in singular.
About the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine
The Ukrainian Carpathians, the central part of the whole Carpathians, are located in West Ukraine. They run via Lvivska Oblast, Ivano-Frankivska Oblast, Zakarpatska Oblast, and Chernivetska Oblast. They are 270 km long and 100-110 km wide.
In Ivano-Frankivska Oblast, the most known town in the mountains is Verkhovyna, the center of the Ukrainian Carpathians. The Town of Verkhovyna is located 125 km south of the City of Ivano-Frankivsk and 32 km from the rail station Vorokhta.
